Goldspire: Gold Mine Defense is a defence game made by Aris Digital Pty Ltd ("we", "us") in Australia. This policy explains what information the game uses, why, who it goes to, how long it's kept and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us at support@aridigital.net.
The short version
- We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number or photos, and the game has no accounts of its own.
- Your progress and settings are saved on your device. If you're signed in to Google Play Games, a copy of your progress is kept in your Google account too, and your Weekly Trial and Last Stand results go on its leaderboards.
- The game offers optional video ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some information to show and count the ads, as explained below.
- Unless you turn Usage data off in Settings, the game sends Google's Firebase how it's played and any crash reports, so we can fix and balance it. These never include your name, email address or advertising ID.
- Purchases are made through Google Play. We never see your payment details. Nothing random is ever sold.
- We never sell your information.
- The game is made for players aged 13 and over.
What the game keeps on your device
The game saves these on your phone or tablet, so you can carry on where you left off:
- your progress: coins and ore, stages and their stars, unit cards and levels, buildings, the Miner, research, the mine, your camp and its decorations, army colours and banners, the Weekly Trial, Last Stand, the tutorial and the daily board
- your settings: sound, music, vibration, damage numbers, reduce motion, the battery saver, notifications and usage data
- the products you've bought, and the transaction numbers of your purchases, so each purchase is given to you exactly once
Deleting the game, or clearing its storage in your device's settings, deletes them.
Google Play Games
When the game starts, Google Play Games signs you in if your Play Games settings allow it. If you'd rather not, you can sign in later in Settings. While you're signed in:
- Cloud save: a copy of your progress (not your settings) is kept in your Google account, so you can carry on on another device. If your account has progress from another device that's further on, the game asks you which to keep.
- Leaderboards: your best Weekly Trial score and the waves you've held in each frontier's Last Stand are shown on Google Play Games' leaderboards, with your Play Games name and picture, as your Play Games settings allow.
The game sends nothing else about you to Google Play Games. Google handles your Play Games account and its data under Google's privacy policy.
Usage data and crash reports (Google Firebase)
To fix crashes and balance the game, it uses Google's Firebase:
- Analytics records how the game is played: stages started and finished (the stage and mode, the result, the waves held, the cards and perks picked, how long it took and the stars won), the tutorial's steps, video offers and purchases made, the coins and ore earned and spent, and when you open a leaderboard or load a cloud save. With these, Firebase records your device's model, operating system and language, the game's version, an ID it creates for this installation of the game (not your advertising ID), and your approximate location (the country, from your IP address).
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): if the game crashes or hits an error, what it was doing (for example the stage), the device's model and operating system, and the error itself.
- Remote config: the game asks Firebase for tuning values, for example how many videos a day it offers, so they can be changed without an update. This sends the same installation ID.
Usage data is on unless you turn it off in Settings > Usage data. With it off, the game sends no analytics or crash reports. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, analytics also wait for your answer on Google's consent form, and stay off unless you agree to the game storing information on your device. The game never sends your name, email address or advertising ID to Firebase, never uses this information for advertising, and never sells it. Google processes it for us as described in Google's privacy policy and Firebase's privacy information.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The game offers short "rewarded" videos, for example to double a victory's rewards. Watching one is always your choice, and there are no other ads. The Ad Skip gives the same rewards without the videos.
To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google's software in the game collects information such as:
- information about your device, such as its model, operating system and language
- your IP address, which can suggest your approximate location
- your device's advertising ID, where that's allowed
- how you interact with the ads, and diagnostic information when something goes wrong
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, you're asked for your consent with Google's consent form before any ad is loaded, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy options. You can also reset or delete your device's advertising ID in your Android settings.
Google uses this information as described in Google's privacy policy and on its page How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Purchases (Google Play)
The game sells coin chests, the Starter Pack, the Quartermaster's Contract, the Research Bundle, army colours, banners and the Ad Skip. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play, under Google's privacy policy. We don't receive your name, email address or payment details. The game only gets a confirmation that a purchase went through, with its transaction number.
The game's purchasing software (Unity IAP, from Unity Technologies) sends Unity technical information about how the store connection is working, such as diagnostics and performance data, so that purchases work. It never includes your payment details, and Unity uses it only for that, briefly, as described in Unity's privacy policy.
Notifications
If you allow them, the game can leave reminders on your device, for example when the mine is full. They're scheduled on the device itself, and nothing is sent to us to do this. You can turn them off in your device's notification settings.
Keeping your information safe
Everything the game sends travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We don't run servers of our own and keep no database of players. Usage data and crash reports are kept in our Firebase project, which only we can open, through a Google account protected by 2-Step Verification.
How long information is kept
- On your device: until you delete the game or clear its storage.
- Your saved game and leaderboard scores: in your Google Play Games account, until you delete them.
- Usage data: at most 14 months. Crash reports: 90 days.
- Emails you send us: only as long as we need them to help you.
- Ad information: Google keeps it as its privacy policy describes.
Children
Goldspire is made for players aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child has given us personal information (by emailing us, for example), contact us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Change your ad consent choices in Settings > Privacy options (where they apply).
- Turn usage data and crash reports off in Settings > Usage data.
- Reset your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your Android settings.
- Turn reminders off in your device's notification settings.
- Delete what the game keeps on your device by deleting the game or clearing its storage.
- Delete its saved game in the Google Play Games app: Settings > Delete Play Games account & data, then Goldspire under Delete individual game data.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, Australia or some US states), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to how it's used. Email us at support@aridigital.net and we'll reply within 30 days. As the game never sends us your name or email address, we may not be able to match its data to you. You can also complain to your local data protection authority (in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner).
If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK: we use analytics and personalised ads only with your consent, given on Google's consent form. We rely on our legitimate interests to fix the game (crash reports), tune it (remote config) and protect it from fraud, and on our agreement with you to deliver your purchases and cloud save.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll also say so in the game.
